So I have done a couple of Sims 4 build videos in the past. I had a vision of trying to build a version of the grand acreage of property me and my partners want to own someday. The Sims is not really built for that…. It is a pretty good storytelling/ life simulation tool with excellent building features though and that’s how I have been using it lately. See my other recent post for more on that.
When I went searching for inspiration, I found it in a video by a pair of fellow simmers. I decided I loved it but wanted to fix the flaws in especially the playability of the lot since I am so much more of a player than a builder. The houseboat went through four major iterations as I tried designs, played some more, fixed things, made changed related to having a growing family, etc. Finally, my actually playing on the lot was over; at least for the original sim I designed it for. His little family got too big to live on a houseboat (and he got too famous to have any privacy on a boat but that’s more related to the story post for the family.)
Since I went into the build knowing there was no way I could get this right on the first go, I decided I would perfect it then so the other major style of Sims 4 build videos: stop-motion. Stop motion builds are basically built backwards. Make the lot how you want it. Save it to the Gallery. Then start planning your shots in reverse and delete items taking a picture per change. Also doing some video work for the transitions but nothing too hard. I learned from this video if you’re interested.
The project was 2055 images used in the video and just under 2100 taken plus 98 video transitions recorded, 90 of which were usable. This final build is just under 10 minutes so after all my talk, here’s the link. Please check it out and do all the engagement mumbo-jumbo: like, subscribe, etc. WATCH THE BUILD.
